We’re here to help you add some more tools to your tool belt with today’s handy Tips and Tricks: Point of Sale Purchasing Mistakes (Part 6).
Part 6: Get a demonstration!
Certified sales consultants should be able to show you a demonstration of the Point of Sale product you are considering purchasing. Take one! Seeing how the software performs in-person can be a big make-or-break moment for you.
Things to consider and look for in the demonstration: How does the interface look? Is it intuitive/user-friendly? What are the workflows like/are they logical? Is the program bogged down with lots of unnecessary features? Does it have room to grow with your business?
One of the best ways to make sure you get an in-depth look at the software and how it will work for you on a daily basis is to ask the demonstrator to walk you through some common workflows. Our suggestion? Start at the beginning and follow an item all the way through your store – from idea to sale. Have the demonstrator show you how to order an item, how to pay your vendor, how to receive the item, how to put the item into inventory, how to create a new customer, how to sell the item to that customer, etc. Anything you see now will help make your decision-making process that much easier. Plus, you know your business best! If you just let the demonstrator take charge, you may not see all of the features that apply to you, and maybe some you won’t be using.
