We receive many questions on how to use QuickBooks products. Each week, we will highlight one question and answer it here for you. This week’s question pertains to Point of Sale v12 and using the iPP350 EMV Ready card reader.
If my customer swipes a credit or debit card that does not have a chip, will I be held liable as a merchant if the card ends up being fraudulent?
As long as you, the merchant, are:
- Using Point of Sale v12,
- Using Intuit Merchant Services,
- Using the EMV Ready ipp350 Pin Pad Card Reader –
you will not be held “more liable” than if they used a chip credit card. The same fraudulent claims department would investigate the incident and a decision would be made just the same as if they had used a chip credit card.
